How to Choose the Right High Pressure Gauge? A Complete Selection Guide
1. Range Selection: Bigger Isn't Always Better
When selecting the range, it is recommended that the working pressure be between 1/3 and 3/4 of the instrument's full scale. For example: Working pressure 25MPa → Select 0-40MPa range
Working pressure 40MPa → Select 0-60MPa range
Do not use a 0-60MPa gauge to measure a working pressure of 5MPa, as the accuracy will be greatly reduced.
2. Accuracy Class: Match according to operating conditions
Table Accuracy Class Applicable Scenarios
1.0 Class General industrial monitoring
0.4 Class Metrological verification, precision measurement
1.6 Class Coarse indication, non-critical positions
3. Interface Thread: Ensure compatibility with the system
Common high-pressure gauge thread specifications:
M14×1.5 (small to medium)
M20×1.5 (standard type, most commonly used)
G1/2" BSP / G1/4" BSP (commonly used for export)
NPT1/2" / NPT1/4" (North American market) When selecting a gauge, be sure to confirm the equipment interface thread type; metric, imperial, and US units cannot be mixed.
4. Case Material: Depends on the Operating Environment
Copper Alloy Case: Suitable for normal operating conditions at room temperature; high cost-effectiveness
Stainless Steel Case (304/316): Suitable for corrosive media, food and pharmaceutical applications
Shockproof Oil Gauge: Suitable for applications involving pump outlets, compressors, and other vibration-prone environments
5. Safety Protection: A life-saving option for high-pressure applications
✅ With Pressure Relief Hole (Explosion-proof): In case of elastic element rupture, pressure is released through the pressure relief hole instead of shattering the gauge glass.
✅ Filler Fluid (Glycerin/Silicone Oil): Damping and shock absorption, extending service life.
✅ Overpressure Protection Device: Automatically disconnects when pressure exceeds the set value.
Selection Recommendation: If unsure, provide your working pressure, media type, installation method, and ambient temperature, and we can recommend the most suitable model for you.
